Check out the video I made on YouTube from last Sunday as I take on the AutoX competition at the Texas A&M Sports Car Club’s 2nd race of the Spring semester!  Some of the turns were pretty tight but I managed to swing the old Cobra around and take away a trophy for 5th place out of 17 competitors in the Street Tire Mod (STM) class and was only 0.342 seconds from 4th.  I have the video’s from my 3 other runs from different camera angles so I may post those up later when I have time, but until then enjoy, and Gig’em Ags!

Here is another video from my first run as I am trying to figure out the course…

Stingray
So I went cruisin all around the shop the other day and snapped some pictures I thought I’d share with y’all.  I found some customers being helped up front in the showroom…I also ran into John (our Master Engine Builder) and  Tim (Lead Tech) pulling a small block out of a customers Buick GS.  Looked like they were getting ready to hoist it onto an engine stand so John and Aaron can disassemble it and begin a rebuild.  I found a few other mechanics doing some general maintanence as well as finding a Sprint Car set up for the street!  I think the sprint car was getting some dyno tuning done. A few more long term porjects were around too like the ‘68 Stingray and ‘56 Thunderbird.  Anyways, I just thought I’d show y’all whats going on at JBA!

J. Bittle keeping in front of a Boss 302 Mustang at the Coronado Speed Festival

J. Bittle and the J. Bittle American Racing Team finished in 8th position at the Coronado Speed Festival September 26-27th. J. Bittle’s #29 1968 Trans Am Mustang uses a rare 302 tunnel-port V8 that was originally a factory prototype engine used by Ford engineer Ed Hinchliff. The engine was intended to be an upgrade to the factory Mustangs at the time, but the project was scrapped in favor of the Boss 302 engine. In race trim, Bittle’s 302 makes 475 horsepower, enough to keep him in the top 10 at race events such as the Coronado Speed Festival.

1964 Ford Ranchero

You’ve probably seen this very clean and low 1964 Ford Ranchero on display at the J Bittle American Performance Center. It’s now being featured in the January 2010 issue of Modified Mustangs & Fords Magazine. The Ranchero belongs to Sondra Gorman and was built by her late husband Rich. The Ranchero was finished at J Bittle American Performance Center in honor of Rich Gorman, who passed away before the vehicle was outfitted with a new intake manifold and a set of  Weber carburetors.

“Rich Gorman was a good friend, a Ford enthusiast, and a great law enforcement officer,” says J. Bittle. “We along with many of Rich’s friends pitched in to finish the vehicle for his wife Sondra who enjoys the vehicle as an honor to her husband.

The January 2010 issue of Modified Mustangs & Fords will be available on newsstands around the first of December and has a small image of the Gorman Ranchero on the cover.

Mustang Enthusiast Magazine Features JBA

Mustang Enthusiast November 09 The November ‘09 issue of Mustang Enthusiast Magazine features two articles in which J. Bittle American Performance Center installed aftermarket products for two separate articles.

The first is by Frank Bohanan titled,  “Juice It Up,” where JBA  installed and tested a Snow Performance water/methanol injection system on a late-model Mustang.  The results on the JBA Dyno were impressive. The Mustang’s baseline dyno numbers showed 446.6 peak horsepower and 438 lbs.-ft. of torque using 91 octane fuel and boost levels around 9.5 psi.

After the installation of the Snow Performance Water/Methanol injection system, boost levels increased to 10.5 psi and the Mustang’s peak horsepower level jumped to 460.8 and with torque increasing to 460 lbs.-ft. The additon of the water/methanol allowed the use of full ignition timing with less detonation; the results of which were evident on the JBA dyno.

The second article in the same issue titled “Keep Your Nose Up” by Dan Sanchez, features the installation of a Whiteline Suspension Anti-Dive system, that was also installed by JBA. The Whiteline Anti-Dive kit replaces the rear bushing on the 05-09 Mustang’s front control arms. This avoids any deflection under braking to eliminate the vehicle’s tendency to nose dive.

The Anti-Dive kit is a urethane bushing that was relatively simple to install and also features a built-in caster adjustment that allows you to exit from a tight turn much faster. The result is quicker cornering speeds and lap times for autocross vehicles and daily drivers. The elimination of the nose dive was also noticeable the moment we test drove the vehicle.

Many magazine editors prefer to have products installed and tested at the J. Bittle American Performance Center, because of the knowledgeable staff, experience in racing performance, and the company’s tuning and dyno capabilities for domestic cars, trucks, race cars and specialty vehicles.

Well I went down to the local 1/8 mile dragstrip just 20 minutes south of me and made a few passes in the old ‘69 Mach 1. I couldn’t get much traction but I plan on returning soon to hopefully hook up and make some clean runs, maybe even head a little farther south to the 1/4 Mile track in Sealy! For now I just made this short little video clip of the 1/8 mile run in Navasota,TX….Check it out and let me know what you think!!!

Team JBA showed up to display and support the Wicked Stangs drag day at Barona Saturday the 22nd of August.  Long time JBA customer David Schwartz of PSCA Drag Radial fame brought out his monster turbo fox body to check out his new parachute andnd new timing belt tension.  David is second in PSCA points with4 races to go as he tunes up for Vegas next month.

Austin Bittle pulled the ex-UC High School drag Fairlane out of moth balls and proceeded to spank his Dad leaving him on the starting line as the GT500 proceeded to break a pinion gear and deposit gear oil on the starting line after the burn out.  Seems Dad was really hitting the clutch with a dream of hole-shoting his son for once…Stewart Bittle as crew chief set tire pressures and assisted in eliminations till the mid-night finish under the lights.

The JBA display at the track was well recieved with Shaun Dove and JR Twedt spending great time with many competitors and spectators talking JBA Racing Engines and Services.
