Vehicles included the blue nitrous-fed small block Nova, the yellow Chevy II, a Ford GT, a Coyote-powered ’63 Falcon and a Coyote-powered Factory Five Cobra, the blue Pantera with a 427w and 180-degree headers, a ZR1 Corvette, the supercharged Vega wagon, Mel’s big block Galaxie, Marc’s 429 Boss Mustang, a lightning quick turbocharged VW, Mike’s supercharged Boss 302, Paul’s juiced Corvette, and many, many more. Join us for the next Coffee & Cars at JBA on May 11th. All makes and models welcome. And see the gallery for more of the story.

14th Spring Goodguy’s Del Mar Nationals

It’s Hot Rods in Paradise folks. Blue skies and warm temps combined with rods, customs, muscle cars and classics. Throw in vendor exhibits, live music, food stands, autocross and a swap meet, and it’s the Spring Goodguy’s Del Mar Nationals. We love seeing lots of cars in the show that JBA Speed Shop has either built, repaired or tuned. Check out the gallery for more of the story!

JBA Coffee & Cars — March 9, 2014

Except for three or four days of rain, winter seems to have skipped San Diego, Even with the clocks jumping forward an hour (thank you Daylight Savings Time), it was warm at daybreak on Kearny Mesa for the March 2014 edition of Coffee & Cars at JBA Speed Shop. The parking lots around JBA filled up early and overflowed into the neighboring streets. Gallons of coffee were consumed, dozens of donuts were downed, and clouds of tire smoke were inhaled. A couple more highlights included the debut of a 1000-horsepower Shelby Super Snake and several pulls on our chassis dyno by a Pantera with a 427W with 180-degree headers. Thanks to everyone who came out to share their enthusiasm for high performance cars. Hope you can join the fun next month! See the gallery for more of the story.

JBA Coffee & Cars — February 9, 2014

The parking lots and streets surrounding JBA Speed Shop were packed early Sunday morning on February 9, 2014 for a special edition of Coffee & Cars. As everyone has come to expect, there were dozens of donuts, pots of hot coffee, smoky burnouts and tons of hot rods and muscle cars to check out. But this event also included a Celebration of Life for fellow motorsport enthusiast, Cobra owner, customer, friend  and all-around good buddy Tim Crain. Family and friends shared sometimes hilarious and sometimes touching tales of Tim’s exploits. It was a special event for a very special guy who will be missed by everyone who was ever lucky enough to cross his path.

NHRA Winternationals February 8, 2014

Winternationals at Pomona, CA

California winter weather meant t-shirts for most of the day at the Fairplex in Pomona for the National Hot Rod Association’s Winternationals drag race event. John Force set a record in his Top Fuel Funny Car yesterday and Doug Kalitta set a track record in his Top Fuel dragster today—the third quickest run in NHRA history. Between the pits, the vendor exhibits, food zone, vintage race car collection and the on-track drag racing, there is plenty to see (and hear) at the Winternationals. Check out the attached gallery to see pictures of some of the stuff that caught our eye today.
