Classic Chevys of San Diego
Posted by btucker on August 29th, 2010
Embarcadero Marine Park North has got to be one of the best locations in the world for a car show. Unbelievable scenery, perfect climate. Classic Chevys of San Diego presented their Picnic by the Bay show on Sunday, August 29, 2010 and it didn’t disappoint. Lots of cool Chevys and quite of few Fords and Mopars too cause the show is open to 1972 and older American-made vehicles. Nice to see a variety of JBA-customer vehicles spread throughout the show too. And it was all for a good cause with proceeds benefiting the San Diego Hospice—a super worthy group as anyone who has dealt with them knows. Random images follow. -bt
1970 Trans Am Mustang on JBA Dyno
Posted by btucker on August 25th, 2010
On August 25, 2010, Craig brought his 1970 Mustang Historic Trans Am race car into JBA to prep for the Shelby American Automobile Club event at Infineon Raceway August 27-29 (SAAC-35). The chassis dyno is a great tool for testing various carburetor and ignition timing combinations. Craig’s Boss 302 really screams and the little motor laid down 455 rear wheel horsepower. See the pictures below including dyno results and check out the video of a dyno pull here: 1970 Trans Am Mustang Dyno Pull
Twin Kawasaki Streamliner on JBA Dyno
Posted by btucker on August 24th, 2010
Just before departing for Bonneville, Kent and Randy brought in their 300-mph streamliner in to JBA for dyno tuning/testing. The streamliner is powered by two turbocharged ZX11 Kawasaki motorcycle engines. With approx 30-psi boost, the streamliner laid down just over 600 hp at the rear wheels. We strapped it down on one side of our Dyno Dynamics chassis dyno and did second gear runs to keep the rear wheel speed within reason. Tom Habrzyk handled the tuning using two laptops running Accel DFI. You can see from the pictures that the streamliner had most of its outer skin off to provide access. Bonneville Speed Week 2010
Posted by btucker on August 20th, 2010
The 62nd Annual Bonneville Speed Week was held August 14-20, 2010 on the famous salt flats near Wendover, Utah/Nevada. Approximately 500 racers and thousands of spectators made the annual pilgrimage to the salt. JBA checked out the scene and hung out with fellow members of the San Diego Roadster Club. The event is run by the Southern California Timing Association and its sister organization Bonneville Nationals Inc. Hundreds of volunteers spend countless hours prepping the 3 courses and overseeing the speed trials so the racers and spectators can have a fun and safe event. The weather was spectacular, aka, not too hot and not too wet!!! There were 381 cars and 178 motorcycles and the result was 158 event records. There was also a car show with “salt rods” in Wendover every night in the Nugget Hotel parking lot. Bonneville Speed Week should be on every gearheads bucket list. See the pictures for more of the story. -bt

J. Bittle American 1st Annual Power Festival
Posted by btucker on August 07th, 2010
On Sunday August 1, JBA celebrated its 25th Anniversary with its first annual Power Festival, Open Show & Cruise. The event also served as the grand opening for JBA’s new expanded facility at 5675 Kearny Villa Road, San Diego, CA 92123. The day featured a major car show/cruise, tours, a raffle, prizes, models, engine and chassis dyno demonstrations, a vendor gallery, food, music by Don Swanson & the Retro Rocketts, and pinstriping by Kong. JBA’s customers turned out in force with hot rods, race cars, customs, classics and late-models. JBA also displayed current project cars, staff rides and several examples of JBA’s new GreenSpeedCo technology. The parking lot was packed early and reinforcements continued to cruise in all day. Much thanks to the Mustang Club, Shelby Club, Mopar Club and Pontiac Club who all helped out by controlling the parking areas. Thanks also to our vendors, but most of all, to our customers who it made it such a great day! This collection of pictures features mostly shots from the parking areas around the building. See the other posts for pictures of cars and the facility.
