Bonneville Speed Week 2010
Posted by btucker on August 20th, 2010
The 62nd Annual Bonneville Speed Week was held August 14-20, 2010 on the famous salt flats near Wendover, Utah/Nevada. Approximately 500 racers and thousands of spectators made the annual pilgrimage to the salt. JBA checked out the scene and hung out with fellow members of the San Diego Roadster Club. The event is run by the Southern California Timing Association and its sister organization Bonneville Nationals Inc. Hundreds of volunteers spend countless hours prepping the 3 courses and overseeing the speed trials so the racers and spectators can have a fun and safe event. The weather was spectacular, aka, not too hot and not too wet!!! There were 381 cars and 178 motorcycles and the result was 158 event records. There was also a car show with “salt rods” in Wendover every night in the Nugget Hotel parking lot. Bonneville Speed Week should be on every gearheads bucket list. See the pictures for more of the story. -bt
