JBA Coffee & Cars — 9/11/2011
Posted by btucker on September 11th, 2011
Special edition of JBA’s Coffee & Cars. Today it was more than just getting together to talk cars, eat donuts and drink coffee. It was an opportunity to celebrate the American way of life and remember September 11, 2001…the innocent victims, the police and fire department heroes, and those USA Armed Forces lost and still defending our freedom and homes! Never Forget – God Bless You and America!
JBA Coffee & Cars — August 14, 2011

Another fine batch of cars rolled into JBA this morning, including two brand new Boss 302′s, a Superformance GT40, an open-header Mopar drag car and a Nissan GTR the owner picked up only 62 hours earlier. Special guest Don Prudhomme stopped by as well. Thanks to everyone who came out to drink coffee, eat donuts and bench race. Now we’ll let the pictures do the talkin’.
JBA Coffee & Cars – July 2011

Mucho thanks to everyone that rolled into JBA this morning for coffee, donuts and most of all, cars! Another good turnout. Pick of the morning was the really slick Studebaker with a Bonneville license plate frame that reflects the great land speed racing heritage of the Studebaker marque. Check out the pictures of the engine compartment (348 or 409?), the interior and pin striping. Another highlight was J. Bittle’s lap around the parking lot in his historic 1968 Mustang Trans Am race car. You had to be there to see and hear it (although there may be some videos floating around). Then again, if you were anywhere in Kearny Mesa you could have heard it! See the pix for more of the story and we’ll look for you on Sunday morning August 14th for our next Coffee & Cars!
JBA Coffee & Cars – June 2011
Posted by btucker on June 12th, 2011
Another cool collection of hot rods, muscle cars, vintage iron and more rolled into JBA this morning for the June 2011 edition of Coffee & Cars. Despite the “June Gloom”, everyone seemed to enjoy each others rides, the donuts, fresh coffee, bench racing and burnouts. Big thanks to all the enthusiasts who came out to hang out! See the pictures for more of the story.
JBA Coffee & Cars — May 2011
Posted by btucker on May 08th, 2011
Thank you to everyone who came out early on Mother’s Day for the May edition of JBA’s Coffee and Cars. Highlights included a really sharp Chevelle with a Detroit Speed chassis and a Kenne Bell supercharged LS2, JD’s wicked-fast GT500 (730 rwhp), a turbo-charged Pontiac G8, an LS1-powered Lexus, a 413-New Yorker, and plenty more (righteous burnouts!). See the pictures for more of the story and just for kicks, look at the collection of engine pictures at the end and try to match them to the right cars. Extra points if you guess which car brought the radio-controlled boat. Good luck!
Diverse Day on the Dyno
Posted by btucker on April 15th, 2011
What do you get when you combine a 2011 Shelby GT350, a supercharged 2009 BMW M3 and a 1950 Ford Woodie with a 302? You get an interesting day on JBA’s Dyno Dynamics chassis dyno. Check out the pictures for more of the story!
Early Iron at JBA for Joint Tour March 19, 2011
Posted by btucker on March 19th, 2011
JBA welcomed the Antique Automobile Club of America and the Studebaker Drivers Club to our facility in Kearny Mesa for a joint tour. J. Bittle escorted approx 50 attendees through the shop, including the showroom, garages and machine shop. A sweet 1967 Mustang was on JBA’s chassis dyno being tuned so a dyno pull was performed for the tour. Next the group watched as ace machinist John Elderhorst ran a Ford 427 FE engine on JBA’s DTS engine dyno. Both groups brought out a great collection of early iron. Check out the pictures for more of the story.
- J. Bittle explains the history of big block Fords.
- Machinist John runs a big Ford FE motor up to 6,200 rpm on the engine dyno.
JBA Coffee & Cars March 13, 2011

Despite losing an hour of sleep (damn daylight savings), we had another excellent turnout for Coffee & Cars…maybe the best yet! Check out the righteous 1937 Diamond T truck that Bob and Bill brought over from Cornado. The coffee has gotten better (thanks J!), the donuts are still phat, and the bench racing remains fresh! JBA’s parking lot doubled as a burnout box as the faithful departed (kids these days!). Click here for a video 1969 Camaro Burnout and check out the attached images for more of the story! -bt
JBA Coffee and Cars February 13, 2011
Posted by btucker on February 13th, 2011
We never know what cars are going to roll into Coffee and Cars at JBA…until they rumble in! We are usually pleasantly surprised and this morning was no exception. A very nice collection of fast street cars filled the parking lot surrounding our facility in Kearny Mesa. As you’ll see in the attached pictures, Cobras, Corvettes and Mustangs dominated the affair with a few other marques thrown in for good measure. Join us on Sunday, March 13th at oh-dark thirty for next month’s edition of Coffee and Cars. -bt
JBA Coffee and Cars January 9, 2011
Posted by btucker on January 09th, 2011
A killer collection of cars rolled through JBA Performance Center this morning for Coffee and Cars. For the dawn patrol, J cranked up the fire pit and offered spiced cider in addition to the coffee and donuts. Special guests included Mark Maynard (Union-Tribune) and Dave Stall (radio/TV personality) who naturally rolled up in a 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 Hemi (6.4L). Cool! GM was strong with several C2 and C3 Corvettes, a beautiful factory-supercharged ZR1, and a beastly big-block powered Nova that sounded like a Pro Mod when it hit it out on the street! Of course, there are always lots of fast Fords lurking around JBA! Check out the pictures for more of the story, and we’ll see you February 13th (bring your Valentine!). -bt
