NHRA Winternationals February 27, 2011
Posted by btucker on February 27th, 2011
Caught the 4th day of the NHRA Winternationals Drag Race at Pomona that included the finals for the Pro Stock, Funny Car and Top Fuel classes. It was a beautiful setting…clear, crisp weather with snow-capped mountains in the background. Don “The Snake” Prudhomme was honored as part of the NHRA 60th Anniversary Season celebration. Congrats to Jason Line, Robert Hight and Morgan Lucas for their class wins. A few random images are attached. -bt
39th San Diego Antique Drags 2010
Posted by btucker on September 19th, 2010
Barona Drag Strip hosted the 39th Antique Drags Sunday, September 19th at their 1/8-mile facility. The Antique Drags lost access to a quarter-mile drag strip years ago when Carlsbad closed and recently the event changed “management”. But fortunately, the Antique Drags continues to survive due to strong support from drag race fans in San Diego County. A good crowd turned out again today and were rewarded with sunny skies and side-by-side drag race action, not to mention the Mr. Frosty truck. JBA continues to support drag racing in San Diego as an annual sponsor of Barona Drag Strip. See the attached pictures for a sampling of burnouts and cars in the pits and staging lanes. -bt
JBA at RaceLegal 1/8-mile Drag Race
Posted by btucker on May 24th, 2010
Race track, not street! The RaceLegal organization provides a low-cost, safe and legal alternative to street racing. JBA team member Steve Fenn took his SBC-powered Vega over to Qualcomm for the RaceLegal event Friday May 21st. His best time was 6.19 with a 115.67 top speed. There was no way to hook up right off the starting line so it was kind of launch, let off, straighten out and then hammer it again. Still fun no matter what! Many thanks to Scott Thompson for great cheeseburgers! Good to see Jim B.’s nitrous-hungry ’67 Mustang and PG’s emaculate and very quick Chevy truck. I’m an idiot and forgot my camera, so all I’ve got is one cell phone video. JBA Vega at RaceLegal Drags Upcoming race dates include June 4th, 18th and 25th…go to RaceLegal.com for the extended schedule and more info. -Bruce Tucker
JBA Mustang in East Texas

Well I went down to the local 1/8 mile dragstrip just 20 minutes south of me and made a few passes in the old ’69 Mach 1. I couldn’t get much traction but I plan on returning soon to hopefully hook up and make some clean runs, maybe even head a little farther south to the 1/4 Mile track in Sealy! For now I just made this short little video clip of the 1/8 mile run in Navasota,TX….Check it out and let me know what you think!!!
